I see “Honey, is it okay if I don’t put on makeup today?” as the same thing as “Honey, are we planning on going out today?” though I can see where guys would hear the second question and not connect it at all with makeup.

As far as impressing people with makeup, that’s just not why I wear it. It’s for my own self. Hubs actually prefers me without makeup. (Weirdo, but okay…) So when I wear makeup, perfume, do my hair, etc., his response is always “Why?” It’s just for myself – I can handle tough things so much better when I feel put together instead of like a mess. (As I sit here at 3:30 PM, in my pajamas, hair up in a messy ponytail… hot stuff, I tell ya.)

Oh, I’m not saying anything about underhandedness or the lack there of. I was simply stating that sometimes we ask leading questions, and then laugh at when someone answers only that question instead of what we really wanted to know.

I promise, I mean, I’m sure she wasn’t being underhanded or anything when she asked this. It was a simple question (in her head) that got phrased wrong.

Actually, from what I heard , the reason the wife asked this was because she didn’t know if they were going out anywhere that day – if they weren’t she was going to take it easy on the daily maintenance.

And I’m SURE she detected a slight note of sarcasm in his response – like he wouldn’t really notice the difference! Give me a break!
